Martin Outdrawn for Tournament Life

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On the featured table, Jesse Martin got it in for 106,000 in a battle of blinds against Jesse Decker.

Martin: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Decker: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Martin had a dominant position, but the {4-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop gave Decker a flush draw. Martin perked up in his chair knowing his tournament life depended on the next two cards. The turn was the {2-Clubs}, filling the flush and leaving the 2017 bracelet winner drawing dead. He silently gathered his belongings as the dealer brought out the meaningless {5-Hearts} river.

Edmund Mokrzycki's Got Game

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

On a board of {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, one player checked and Edmund Mokrzycki suddenly turned over {q-Spades}{j-Spades}. There was a bemused silence around the table before the floor was called.

The floor ruled that Mokrzycki's hand was live, and the river came the {6-Hearts}. His opponent bet 76,000 and Mokrzycki called.

His opponent showed {7-Spades}{8-Spades} for a busted straight draw and Mokrzycki's queen was good.

"Wow, nice call" said tablemate Mike Gorodinsky. "You've got some game, sir!"

The Craft of Hitting

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Nick Petrangelo
Nick Petrangelo

Action folded to Nick Petrangelo in the hijack and the high stakes tournament regular opened to 20,000. His neighbor, Stoyan Obreshkov in the cutoff, three-bet to 53,000. Mickey Craft in the small blind called rather quickly, and the big blind gave up. Petrangelo four-bet to 160,000 and Obreshkov gave up. Craft snap-called to get to see a flop.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{J-Spades} and Craft checked. Petrangelo had 235,000 behind and moved all in. Craft once again snap-called.

Petrangelo: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}
Craft: {K-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {3-Spades} hit the turn giving Craft the flush. Petrangelo came up short with the {4-Clubs} on the river and made his exit. Craft is up to 3.4 million, making him the massive chipleader of the tournament.

Bojang Doubles Through Jaka

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ankush Mandavia raised to 23,000 in early position, Faraz Jaka called from middle position, and Ismael Bojang shoved from the button for 168,000. Mandavia folded fairly quickly and after brief contemplation, Jaka called to put Bojang at risk.

Bojang: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Jaka: {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}

Bojang had the slight preflop advantage with his jacks but was racing for his tournament life against Jaka's overcards. The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{10-Spades}, providing no help to either player, and Bojang took the pot to double up.

Lamb Crushing

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ben Lamb
Ben Lamb

We found Ben Lamb facing a check-raise to 120,000 after putting in a continuation-bet from the hijack on a {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop. The player in the big blind put in the raise, and Lamb called it after checking out his opponent's stack. Both checked the {10-Spades} turn, and the big blind checked the {7-Hearts} river. Lamb bet 137,000, and he got a call after about a minute.

Lamb tabled {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and took the pot.

Dilovan Hussein Takes More From Jared Jaffee

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jared Jaffee
Jared Jaffee

With about 500,000 in the pot on a board reading {j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, Jared Jaffee checked from the small blind. Dilovan Hussein was in the hijack and paused for a moment before checking back.

The river was the {6-Diamonds}. Jaffee cut out some chips and fired out a bet worth 274,000. Hussein went into the tank, clearly agonizing over his decision. The two players played a big pot earlier where Hussein spiked a set of tens against Jaffee's jacks, but both players were completely silent.

After a couple of minutes, a player at the table called the clock. "Are you serious?" asked Hussein. "The only thing that beats me is a six." The tournament director confirmed he was going to give him 30 seconds, and after a short while Hussein called.

Jaffee mucked his cards and Hussein slammed down {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and exclaimed, "I'll snap-call you, bro. Let's go!" A person on the rail chuckled and said, "I don't think he knows what a snap-call is."

Hussein now sits on 1,500,000 while Jaffee has dropped to 350,000.

Chipleader No More, Nasief Loses a Big One

Niveau 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Ibrahim Nasief, who started this level as the chipleader, opened from early position for 23,000. Action folded to Phil Mader in the hijack and he three-bet to 102,000. The cutoff, button, and both blinds folded, and action was back on Nasief. Nasief four-bet to 287,000 and the action was on Mader. The latter five-bet to 500,000 with 315,000 behind. Nasief thought about it for a bit and moved in. Mader called.

Mader: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Nasief: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out an uneventful {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Mader got his double. Mader, who went deep in this event back in 2013 (43rd, $185,694), is now up to almost 1.7 million.
