Niveau 18 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Safwane Bahri
Safwane Bahri

Safwane Bahri was all-in with a short stack holding the AJ and Marius Gicovanu looked him up with the QQ.

No ace or broadway cards came on the 92226 board and Bahri knuckled the table in defeat.

"I had king deuce of hearts," the red-hot running Jacob Amsellem mentioned in chat while Gicovanu was busy raking in the chips.

Rocco Valuebluffs Szekeres Out of the Main Event

Niveau 18 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Michael Rocco
Michael Rocco

The action was caught when the completed board of AQK5K was already dealt. Michael Rocco had bet 374,000 chips, exactly enough to put his opponent Carsten Szekeres all-in.

Szekeres pondered his options for a while before announcing "I can't fold". Rocco tabled A3 for two pair, aces and kings, and Szekeres had to show his 33 for a daring herocall.

"I guess he's not folding an ace," Rocco dryly remarked after Szekeres had exited the tournament area.

Kenjic and Al Labani Find Their Fate

Niveau 18 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Yulian Bogdanov
Yulian Bogdanov

Jovan Kenjic was left short and jammed around eight blinds with king-ten. He was up against the KK of Hyunsup Kim and spiked a gutshot on the J92 flop. The K turn gave Kim a set of kings and no queen came to the rescue on a blank 6 river.

One table over, Hael Al Labani was sent to the payout desk as well.

Yulian Bogdanov opened to 32,000 on the button and Al Labani made it 127,000 to go in the small blind. Bogdanov clicked it back to 227,000 and then called the shove by his table neighbour on the other side of the dealer for what appeared to be 637,000.

Fewer Than 100 Players Remain

Niveau 18 : Blinds 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

The tournament clock ticked to just 98 players remaining and the last two contenders to bust were Adrian Strobel and Zaki Hamani. The latter never recovered from losing a big pot to Salih Atac and then found his master in Alexander Tkatschew.

Hamani put his hopes on K8 and was up against A10. The 1093 flop had given them a flush draw before the 3 turn and 8 river sealed his fate.

Hamani was visibly upset and jumped out of his chair, tossing over a glass in the process before storming out of the tournament area.
