Mercier Eliminates Trivedi

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

In the last hand of the night at his table, PokerStars Team Pro Jason Mercier eliminated Smit Trivedi to give himself a terrific chance of running very deep in this inaugural PokerStars Championship here in the Bahamas.

It was Trivedi who moved all-in for a total of 208,000, and Mercier called it in late position.

Smit Trivedi: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Jason Mercier: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board of {10-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{A-Spades}{2-Hearts} saw Mercier fill up on the river and send Trivedi home in 33rd place.

We await the bagging of each players chips at the end of the day.

Three More Hands

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

The tournament staff just announced that the remaining players will receive three more hands before bagging and tagging for the night. Stay tuned for a list of survivors complete with chips counts, as well as a full recap of the Day 3 action.

Ronan Gorey Doubles Then Busts

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ronan Gorey
Ronan Gorey

Ronan Gorey had a crazy last level, getting his stack in the middle twice.

The Double Up
Ronan Gorey moved all in for his remaining 148,000 and was called by Jason Mercier.

Gorey: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Mercier: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Gorey got the double up after locking up the hand with a flush on the turn.

The Elimination
A few hands later, John Engledow raised to 35,000 from under the gun and Ronan Gorey moved all in for 248,000. Engledow called.

Engledow: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Gorey: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Gorey needed to hit a queen but was unable to get there when the board ran out {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, sending the PokerStars Online Qualifier home towards the end of Day 3.

Stewart Tempts Staples

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jaime Staples
Jaime Staples

A relatively small ball pot got really interesting on the river late on Day 3 as Jaime Staples and Scott Stewart did battle.

We joined the action on a flop of {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, with Staples facing a bet of 45,000. He called. The turn of {6-Clubs} saw both men check, but on the {7-Diamonds} river, Stewart bet 99,000 - a pretty clear tease that he had the gutshot required to complete the straight.

"I should snap call just for that!" laughed Staples. But was he 'bound' to call?

"Maybe you're just on a different level to me." said Stewart.

Those words gave way to a Staples fold, and Stewart stacked up the newest chips to add to his mountain.

Cliff Josephy vs. Adrian Mateos

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised to 22,000 from early position and Cliff Josephy defended from the big blind to see a {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop.

Josephy check-called a bet of 22,000 and then checked for a second time when the {9-Clubs} appeared on the turn. Mateos bet again, this time 80,000, and it did the trick as Josephy released his hand.

Yakov Onuchin Eliminated

Niveau 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Yakov Onuchin got his last 110,000 or so in before the flop holding {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}. His monster was in terrible shape as his neighbor Rasmus Glæsel had {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}. The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Onuchin hit the rail. Down to 34 players in the Main Event with three more days of play.
