Markholt Loses a Small Pot; Lubenets Vanishes

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Lee Markholt bet 1,200 on the three-way turn of {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} and was called by David Augustine only, while the third player in the hand folded. On the {9-Diamonds} river it was Markholt that checked and called a bet of 3,000 to get shown the {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for bottom set by Augustine, Markholt mucked and dropped a few chips off his above-average stack.

One table over, Valerii Lubenets' seat was open and Kenneth Adams confirmed he had been eliminated by Guy Hadas. On a three-card spade turn, Lubenets moved all in with kings including the {K-Spades}, and Hadas snap-called with aces and the {A-Spades}. Another spade came on the river and that was it for Lubenets.

Top Two Pair for Fish

Darryll Fish

Darryll Fish and Kevin Buck were heads-up on the river on a {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} board. Buck checked and Fish bet 8,500 into a main pot of about 13,000. Buck leaned back in his chair and thought it over for a few moments before tossing in the calling chips.

Fish turned over {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top two pair and Buck fired his hand face down into the muck. "Nice hand. I had the best bluff catcher I could have," said Buck as Fish scooped the pot.

Hallaert Eliminated on the Feature Table

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Kenny Hallaert
Kenny Hallaert

Kenny Hallaert reached Day 5, 8, and 6 of the WSOP Main Event in the last three years, yet he was just spotted with PokerCentral's Remko Rinkema on the rail and the duo walked outside of the Amazon room to discuss Hallaert's unfortunate run in the 2018 Main Event, as the Belgian had been eliminated minutes prior.

Hallaert was moved to the main feature table with some 20,000 chips and made a small profit before he got involved in a three-way hand. According to the Belgian, Randy Pisane had raised and Hallaert called from the small blind with the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. The big blind called also. Hallaert check-called a 1,200 bet by Pisane on the {10-}{8-}{2-} flop and bet the {9-} turn. Pisane raised to 11,500, and Hallaert, who had a total of 23,000 behind at that point, eventually moved all in with top two pair.

Pisane quickly called with a set of eights and that sent Hallaert to the rail in Level 3.

"I seriously considered folding it, don't think I can call there, fold is definitely an option. Out of the 25 flops I have seen today, I didn't hit any pair. I flopped trips once and had to fold on the river, the guy later told me he had the better trips so I was glad about the fold. Maybe it was the frustration on how the day went," Hallaert explained.

The Belgian becomes the second high-profile departure in Level 3 on the feature table after defending champion Scott Blumstein had been eliminated on yesterday's Day 1a.

Geshkenbein Finds a Fold From Bicknell

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kristen Bicknell opened to 700 and it was called by the cutoff player, Vladimir Geshkenbein in small blind, and the big blind player.

The flop brought {2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and after the players in the blinds checked, Bicknell continued for 800. Only Geshkenbein made the call. The turn {9-Hearts} brought no betting action and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board. Geshkenbein bet 1,900 and it was enough to make Bicknell fold her hand.

Failla Keeps Firing

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player opened to 800 from under the gun, Will Failla called from the hijack, and the big blind stuck around as well. The flop fell {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades}, action checked to Failla who bet 1,500, and only the big blind opponent called.

The {7-Clubs} came on the turn, action checked to Failla who fired out 3,300, and his opponent called. The river was the {5-Diamonds}, again action checked to Failla who pushed in a bet of 6,400, and his opponent took a few moments before making the fold.

Seth Gives MacPhee Respect

Niveau 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

The preflop action was already underway and there was a 2,800 bet in front of the cutoff and a call by Akash Seth on the button. Kevin MacPhee raised it up to 11,600. This got the cutoff out the way, and after some deliberation, Seth did the same, showing the table {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} as he did so. MacPhee mucked, so it will never be known how strong he was.
