Dale Jones opened to 100,000 in the hijack and Farhad Jamasi shipped all in for around 500,000 in the big blind. The action was back to Jones who called off his stack of around 350,000.

Cowen Wakes Up with Aces to End Shing's Main Event

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Philip Shing
Philip Shing

A series of preflop raises saw Philip Shing get his 1.3 million stack in the middle and Robert Cowen called from the big blind.

Philip Shing: {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}
Robert Cowen: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

Shing's made hand of queens was well behind the pocket rockets of Cowen and the {8-Hearts}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts} runout provided no help to Shing as it ended his Main Event.

Lavin Almost Escapes, Gets Straightened Out

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

In a button-versus-small-blind clash, Michael Lavin four-bet shoved all in for about a million and Ryan Roeder looked him up.

Michael Lavin: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Ryan Roeder: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Lavin found himself in a deep hole but caught the flop he wanted when the dealer fanned out {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} to pair his inferior kicker. The {10-Diamonds} on the turn opened up a gutshot for Roeder and the {9-Clubs} on the river completed it to give Roeder the winner.

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Hye Park opened to 65,000 on the button and Stephen Chidwick defended the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Chidwick check-raised a 55,000 bet up to 175,000. Park called.

The {7-Hearts} came on the turn and Chidwick bet 500,000. Park thought for nearly a minute and called.

The action kicked off with a min-raise to 60,000 by Francis Cruz and Casey Coughlan then three-bet to 180,000 in the hijack. Demosthenes Kiriopoulos four-bet to 510,000 in the big blind and Cruz instantly folded while Coughlan called after some consideration with around one million behind.

Casey Coughlan: {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Demosthenes Kiriopoulos: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

There was no help for Coughlan on the {7-Spades} turn and {3-Hearts} river, ending his WSOP Main Event run while Kiriopoulos further increased his already impressive stack.

On a completed board of {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{q-Clubs}, Chang Luo was spotted all-in and he was looked up by Nicholas Rigby. Luo tabled he {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for bottom set but it was no good, as Rigby held the {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for the nut flush.

"You made jump, an extra 6k," another player told Luo as he was waiting for the runner to arrive with the payout ticket.

Kronwitter Puts Wong in the Tank

Niveau 22 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Picking up the action on the turn with around 400,000 in the middle already, the board read {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Jose Wong checked from under the gun and Jonas Kronwitter splashed in a bet of 255,000 in middle position which Wong called.

The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and Wong checked again. Kronwitter thought for a minute before counting out a bet of 515,000. Wong went deep into the tank, with a decision for the majority of his stack. After a few minutes had passed, Wong finally slid his cards to the muck. Kronwitter flashed the {2-Clubs} as he was shipped the pot.
