Defending Champion Salas Eliminated by Gould

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante
Damian Salas
Damian Salas

Earlier in the tournament, Damian Salas was involved in a hand against Lynne Ji at his table.

Salas opened and got two calls including Ji and Oliver Thomas. The flop was {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Salas continued and Thomas in the hijack raised. Ji three-bet and earned two calls.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} putting three hearts on the board. It checked to Thomas who bet just under half pot. Salas raised and Thomas shoved all in. Salas called with {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the nut flush against Thomas' {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

The river was the {j-Spades}, giving Oliver Thomas a full house and leaving Salas with crumbs.

A short while later, and just before the break, the action was picked up on the river with a board that read {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}. Salas was all in for just 2,000 from the big blind. There was side action between a player in early position and Peter Gould on the button.

There was about 16,000 in the pot by the river. The action was checked to Gould and he bet 9,400. The player in early position thought for a moment before releasing his hand.

Damian Salas: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Peter Gould: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Gould rivered the bottom end of the straight with his pocket fives to eliminate 2020 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Damian Salas.

Weissman Gets Paid Off

Joey Weissman check-called a bet on the {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Spades} flop by the player on the button and then opted to check-raise the {a-Spades} turn to 12,500, which his opponent called. On the {10-Spades} river, Weissman bet 10,000 and earned a call to reveal {8-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a set of eights to drag in a very healthy pot.

Weissman is now the biggest stack at the table with Eric Kurtzman not far behind.

Olonoh Trails Set But Hits Runner-Runner to Survive

Niveau 1 : 100/200, 200 ante

With about 15,000 in the pot and a flop of {9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, a hijack player bet 7,000, a button player called, and Adekunle Olonoh jammed for 34,600 in the small blind. The hijack folded and the button quickly called.

Adekunle Olonoh: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Button: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

Olonoh had cowboys but was behind the flopped top set of his opponent. The {7-Clubs} gave him extra hope with a flush draw, and the {q-Clubs} spiked the river to complete the flush and keep him alive.

"Oh wow, flush got there," one player at the table observed. "That's sick," another one said.

Olonoh took a photo of the board to document his good fortune and took his seat with renewed energy, while his opponent was left with crumbs.
