Picking up the action on the K♣5♠2♣9♠J♠ river, Thomas Carroll checked and Aram Zobian in the cutoff then bet 15,000 to send his fellow big stack deep into the tank. Carroll asked if Zobian would show and once he folded, that wish was granted.

Zobian flipped over the 6♣3♣ for a missed straight and flush draw to scoop the pot.

"Oh, I thought I had a flush," Zobian grinned.

David Peters raised to 800 from early position and was called by the player in middle position. Both players checked the 5♦4♣8♥ flop before Peters bet 2,400 on the 2♥ turn.

The player in middle position called and called again when Peters placed another 2,400 chips on the 10♦ river. Peters tabled 10♥7♥ for a rivered pair of tens and took down the pot.

Fass Leaves Madsen with Crumbs

PokerNews was waved over to a table where a massive hand was in process between four-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Madsen and Seth Fass.

The board showed 4♠8♣6♦10♣3♦ with a bloated pot and Madsen was all in for approximately 40,000 against Fass, who had position and would’ve been at risk with a call if he lost the hand.

Fass was deliberating his next move before he eventually made the call and he promptly tabled his hand.

Seth Fass: Q♠Q♣ All in

“Good call,” said Madsen, who saw Fass' pocket queens before showing Ax and mucking his hand.

While Madsen's second card is unknown, Fass recounted some of the action for PokerNews.

Fass said he raised preflop and got four callers, including Madsen. Fass’ three other opponents had cleared out by the turn, where Fass said Madsen led into him with a 7,500 bet. Fass said he flatted Madsen’s bet on the turn, which set up the river action of Madsen moving all in and Fass making the call with his pocket queens.

Fass scored a huge pot to boost his chip stack, while Madsen’s stack was decimated.

Kornuth Set up and Straightened Out

Three ways on a flop of 4♦6♣5♦, Chance Kornuth checked from the small blind and the player in the big blind checked to Matthew Ledger, who bet 1,100 on the button. Kornuth then check-raised to 3,900, which got a fold from the big blind and a call from Ledger.

Ledger called a 5,800 bet from Kornuth on the 9♥ turn and Kornuth fired 13,000 into the middle after the 8♠ completed the board.

Ledger shoved after a bit of thought, which was enough to put Kornuth all in for 55,600 total.

"This might take a bit, ya'll," Kornuth said, clearly struggling with his decision.

After several minutes, Kornuth said he didn't think he could fold and put in the call while tabling 6♥6♠ for a flopped set of sixes.

Ledger showed Kornuth the bad news as he turned over 7♦7♣ for a rivered straight to eliminate Kornuth early on Day 1d.

"Good luck guys," Kornuth wished his tablemates as he exited the tournament area.
